Five Elements Theory is a Chinese philosophy used to describe interactions and relationships between things. The five elements — wood, fire, earth, metal, and water — are believed to be the fundamental elements of everything in the universe between which interactions occur.
Each element has its own color, shape, energy, and season. The process of focusing on one element for each painting allowed me to appreciate and understand how to use each one in my art to create balance and a harmonious composition.
The color correspondence of each of the five feng shui elements is: • WOOD: green, brown, dark blueish purple • FIRE: red, strong yellow, orange, bright reddish purple, pink. • EARTH: light yellow, sandy/earthy, light brown. • METAL: white, gray. • WATER: blue, black, dark blue
